  I contacted Richard Kjar's surgery to make an appointment and to get some advice around how best to handle an injury to a family member which may have required surgery. The staff member at the reception could not have been more helpful and Richard took the time to discuss the injury at a time when he was already very busy . Their assistance and attitude provided a lot of comfort to us.

  My wife went and seen Richard when she was having issue's with her left knee.
  He said that she needed a full knee reco, but told her she was too young. Yet the only option he gave her was to 'take anti-inflammatory' tablets until she's 50 and to get her liver checked every 3 months.
  He also said an Arthroscopy would be 'pointless' because there's too much damage.
  She was living in a great deal of pain and to be sent away like that was horrendous.
  
  We went to another orthopedic surgeon a few months later, and he immediately scheduled an arthoscopy for her. He did say she was too young for a knee reco, BUT he said he would try other options before going down the path of a knee reco.
  After the surgery he found a very large piece of loose cartilage which was causing the locking and grinding sensation in her knee.
  He helped her and didn't turn her away like Richard did......
  
  When it comes to your health, it becomes a serious matter. That is why I would never recommend sending anyone to Richard.
  My wife would still be suffering if she had of listened to his 'advice'.

  After struggling for quite a while with my shoulder which I had snapped the rotator cuff I then had in Nov.2014 a reverse shoulder operation performed by Richard Kjar. When I woke in the recovery ward of Wangaratta Public Hospital I knew straight away that things were much better. It is now 2 1/2 months since and although a bit sore in the upper arm muscle occasionally I am doing exercises and some light jobs I was not previously able to do. I have also taken back up fishing and Snooker/pool/billiards again which I have not been able to do for a number of years. I realise it will take me quite some months to build up the muscles that have wasted but it is so good to be able to do things again. As well as being a great surgeon he is a great bloke.
